The L-shaped 40 MG R.C. Reservoir measures 207 metres X 210 metres X 95 metres wide and 6.8 metres in height. Total built-up area is 30,500 sq. metres or its concrete roof is big enough to cover 4 1/2 soccer fields, making it the biggest covered Reservoir in the country. About 22,000 cubic metres of concrete and 2,050 tonnes of steel reinforcement were used in the construction of the Reservoir. Due to site conditions, combination of H-piles, "reinforced sleeper walls" and concrete pad footings were used for the foundation. It serves as the Terminal Reservoir for the Sungai Selangor Water Supply Scheme in the Klang Valley.

The project comprises an intake and raw water pumping station on the left bank of Sungai Selangor, located about one(1) km upstream of the town of Batang Berjuntai. Raw water is abstracted and pumped through twin 2,100mm diameter trunk mains to a treatment works located on higher ground in Bukit Badong Estate, about five (5) km. from the intake works. After treatment, the potable water is pumped through twin 2,100 mm diameter trunk mains to a high level reservoir at Matang Pagar, near Sungai Buloh, which is about twenty three (23) km from the treatment works. From this reservoir, of capacity 40 MG (182 ML), water is supplied to terminal reservoirs located in northern parts of Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya.
